MINNEAPOLIS- Rep. Aisha Gomez, MN-House 62B, explains the importance of delivering on key Medicare-for-all legislation and highlights the critical work Rep. Ilhan Omar has done to bring us closer to that goal.

Congresswoman Ilhan Omar is the only candidate in this race who I trust to protect the rights of Southsiders and all residents in the Fifth District. Far too many Minnesotans have to choose between housing, food, and healthcare. We need elected officials who will fight for bold, transformative change and make life easier. Ilhan is the one I trust to fight for all of us.

It is immoral that in the richest country in the history of the world, that we fail to provide healthcare for all. Ilhan understands this. She understands that too many folks pay increasingly high costs for less-than-ideal services because our healthcare system prioritizes profits over the care and needs of patients. She serves as the Vice-Chair of the Medicare for All Caucus, where she is advocating day in and day out to fight to provide healthcare for everyone. She is our champion in Washington fighting back against the notion that health care is only for the privileged few.

Not only has Ilhan championed universal healthcare, she has brought back $54 million in community-centered projects across the Fifth District, including $6.6 million for healthcare investments in the Southside. These investments went to Hennepin Healthcare, the Native American Community Clinic, and the People’s Center to provide care for the community and address health disparities.

She doesn’t just advocate for beneficial policies; she gets things done for our community. I am proud to endorse Ilhan for reelection and know she will continue to make us proud.
